Moon Energy

Each night the moon secretly kisses the lover who counts the stars. - Rumi

Humans have long had a profound connection to the moon. We crave its attention, its guidance, and its mystic properties. We feel powerful under it; gaining energy and strength from her presence. It's all a matter of learning how to live your life by each moon phase.

The Moon is an astronomical body that orbits the Earth and is the only natural satellite of our Planet. It is the second brightest object in the sky after the Sun, as well as the second-densest satellite in the Solar System after Jupiter’s satellite Io (among those whose densities are known).

The Moon is thought to have formed about 4.51 billion years ago, not long after Earth. The most widely accepted explanation is that the Moon formed from the debris left over after a giant impact between Earth and a Mars-sized body called Theia.

As the Moon orbits around the Earth once per month, the angle between the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun changes; we see this as the cycle of the Moon’s phases.

In astrology, the moon is considered female, presiding over our fertility, emotions, and monthly cycles. We are affected by her pull, receding and renewing as often as the tides. We find ourselves drawn between bouts of introversion and introspection and moments of extreme passion and energy.

Even history cannot deny the mystical role the moon plays on us. The word "lunatic" is derived from multiple languages in reference to the madness or hysteria. From the Old English "monseoc," "lunatic" literally translates to “moon-sick"; and from the Latin word "lunaticus," which originally referred mainly to epilepsy and madness, as diseases thought to be caused by the moon.

Moon Phases

The Moon has four main cycles;

New, Waxing, Full and Waning.
Each carries a very distinctive energy that we can utilize to energize our crystals and ourselves or choose specific ones to work with that energy.
Charging your crystals and minerals with any phase of moon energy takes your work with them to an entirely different level.

The New Moon

The New Moon is observed when the moon is directly in line with the Sun and Earth, but out of our view from Earth, because the Moon's dark side is facing the Earth, making it appear dark.

Many believe that the energy of the New Moon is a time of transformation, new beginnings, an explosion of creative energy and personal growth.  Working with Moonstone, Botswana Agate, Kunzite, Turquoise and Selenite will enhance any intentions during this Moon phase.

The new moon is seen as a wonderful time to perform rituals of blessing and healing. A time to focus on our desires and dreams of what we want to manifest now. Look within to discover what you really want. A chance to discern our deepest truest, desires and manifest them naturally.

The Waxing Moon

When the moon appears to be gaining light and growing in energy and size, this is a Waxing Moon. moving from a New Moon towards a Full Moon. The energy of the waxing moon is that of manifestation and intention. This is a time to focus on new projects and ideas.

The Waxing Moon would be a great time to wear your chosen crystal for abundance and prosperity. Stones such as Aventurine, Malachite, Citrine and Ruby are excellent Abundance Stones that would support the energy of the Waxing Moon.

The period of the waxing moon lasts about 14 days.

The Full Moon

Lunar energy is at its most powerful during the time of the full moon. The reason we cleanse and charge our crystals by the full moon is because this extremely powerful lunar energy helps to remove all dense, stored up energies.

Although some crystals never need cleansing or energizing, like selenite and citrine, they can still benefit from these powerful rays of healing light.  This is a time of enhancing personal and crystalline energies.  Also a great time to perform personal rituals of healing and wellness.

Is a time for focusing on our gratitude’s and blessing’s. It is a time to be mindful of all that we have, and all that we have created. A time to express and receive, to open our hearts and feel the connection we have all around us and fill our hearts.

The Full Moon

The Waning Moon

Directly after the light of the full moon has passed that the light begins to grow less visible each night, is a Waning Moon. The energy of the Waning Moon can be used to remove those energies and issues that no longer serve you such as letting go of a relationship that may be toxic. It is also leading up to the new moon which can be a time of rest and energy resttoration.

It is a beautiful reminder to rest and recharge. Crystals that carry an energy of unconditional love are perfect during this time as they are a reminder that taking care of the self is as important as anything else that you do. How can we be of service to others when our self is not well.

Crystals such as Rhodochrosite, Rose Quartz, Rhodonite, Ruby in Fuchsite, Pink Kunzite and/or Danburite work well with the Waning Moon.
